Air Conditioner Theft Suspect Sentenced

The last of two Peoria men, indicted following a rash of air conditioner thefts was sentenced Thursday to probation after pleading guilty. Terrance Hollister was also ordered to pay five thousand dollars in restitution. Hollister's co defendant, 19 year old Louis Brown received four months in jail, 30 months probation and ordered to repay 22 thousand dollars in restitution. Police say they have been able to clear 9 separate cases involving the theft of air conditioning units from businesses and residents, Police also say they believe there is more than one group who committed these crimes. Authorities say the stolen air conditioners are stripped down for their components which are then sold to recyclers.
