The newly drawn 13th Illinois congressional race, pitting Republican
Rodney Davis against Democrat David Gill continues to heat up with both
men claiming to have the momentum and the lead in the polls. Gill, who
has run unsuccessfully for the seat once held by retired Republican Tim
Johnson in the old 15th district, claims a nine point lead in a
Democrat commissioned poll as both men battle for the Republican held
seat. However, Rodney Davis' campaign says their latest poll shows Davis
with a four point lead and that lead expands to eight points, according
to Davis' poll of voters paying the most attention to the race. The new
13th district includes McLean County but the district extends south to
near the St. Louis area. Davis also received the endorsement of several
mayors in the district including Bloomington Mayor Steve Stockton.
