BLOOMINGTON - Golfers have the chance to win big money, but also take action for the hungry.
Bloomington's three city-owned golf courses are holding a food drive to benefit the Clare House food pantry.
It runs October 22 through November 21 at the Den at Fox Creek, Prairie Vista and Highland Park.
Each are collecting canned and dry goods.
People who donate get $5.00 off the daily green fee, but they'll also be automatically entered to win one of four available spots to shoot a hole-in-one for $50,000.
To be eligible for that prize, you must donate on or before November 13. The hole-in-one opportunity will be at Prairie Vista.
Tina Siplua with the Clare House said Wednesday she hopes people will step up to help those in need.
"Someone said to me when the recession hit a couple years ago, you won't really feel this until a couple of years. And that's exactly what's happening. Our lines are extremely long. There are many people who are unemployed," she said.
The Clare House is also gearing up for its 18th annual food drive, which begins November 1.
The goal this year is to fill nine semi trucks with food.
Donations are accepted at both Twin City Schnuck's locations and Extreme Motors.
