18th District Congressional Candidates: Jobs in Illinois

In the race for the 18th Congressional District Seat, Republican incumbent Aaron Schock is facing Democrat Steve Waterworth.
Our question:
During the
last few months, Illinois' jobless rate has continued to climb up -- what needs
to be done to reverse this trend?
Steve Waterwort:
We actually as a country subsidize
corporations that are sending jobs out of America - we need to quit doing that.
There was a bill recently that would not allow corporations to not write off
their expenses, when they send jobs to China. Unfortunately, Aaron Schock voted
against it - I would've voted for it. So that's one thing - the other thing is,
we've got to bring these jobs back.
Aaron Schock:
Well we need new leadership in Illinois - I
mean the reality is every state around us has a lower unemployment rate than Illinois
- that's Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri - have lower unemployment rates
than Illinois. You cannot continue to run huge deficits, you cannot continue to
pass huge tax increases, and you cannot continue to be hostile to entrepreneurs
and businesses, and expect your state to grow and add jobs.
And it's the reason why our state has continued to lag behind every other state during this recovery. So we need new leadership, we need people in Springfield that understand that we have to be competitive as a state, we're not an island, we're one of 48 contiguous states
