State Jobless Rate Drops

The state's jobless rate dropped during September as 13,800 jobs were added, with unemployment dropping from 9.1 percent to 8.8 percent. 7800 jobs were created in professional and business services and 3400 in leisure and hospitality. However, the state also lost 2600 manufacturing jobs, and 2700 trade, transportation or utility jobs. 6900 of the 13,800 jobs created were government jobs, and not in the private sector.
