EAST PEORIA -- We're just a few weeks away from the grand opening of East Peoria's Costco. Today, the store held a workshop to teach employees what it means to be a part of the Costco family.
From ethics to benefits, Costco Directors are in town to teach employees the Costco way.
Midwest Regional Director Jonathan Taub said shopping Costco is an experience. He said it's like a treasure hunt, with all of the changing merchandise.
His workshop is teaching new employees the Costco culture - what he said makes the wholesale retailer so successful.
Taub said, "We feel our employees are the best employees anywhere in retail, not just in the warehouse industry but the best employees in retail. There's genuine concern on behalf of our employees to make sure our members have a good time find the merchandise they're looking for, understand the quality of the product they're purchasing."
New employee Janet Johanson is a long-time shopper and now excited to get to work for the store.
She said, "I did a little checking online and I found out they are a great company to work for, great benefits and they take care of their employees."
East Peoria's Costco will employ more than 150 central Illinois residents.
If you want a membership, you can visit the Regions bank in East Peoria to get signed up. The store opens on Nov. 14.
