LINCOLN - The defense team for an accused killer won the chance to beef up its case Tuesday.
Christopher Harris is accused of killing five members of the Gee & Constant family in Beason in September 2009.
However, his defense team sees it another way.
Lawyers argue 14-year-old Dillen Constant is the real killer. They say Harris murdered the boy in self-defense after he walked in on the boy murdering his family members.
To support that theory, a judge Tuesday decided to allow the defense to subpoena several records pertaining to Constant's educational, medical, criminal and mental health history.
The records could be coming from all or some of the following agencies or people: Dr. Matthew Rossi, Hopedale Pharmacy, Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois, Chester-East Lincoln District #611, Lincoln Elementary School District #27, Lincoln Police Department and Logan County Sheriff's Department.
The documents are due in open court on November 20, 2012 to be part of a camera inspection.
Christopher's brother, Jason, is also charged in the deaths.
