A Peoria mom, who pleaded guilty last month to abducting her two young children last May and taking them to Minneapolis, which triggered a statewide amber alert, was sentenced Monday. Nyway Abbaa, the non custodial parent was given 148 days in jail but given credit for time already served and put on 30 months probation. Police say Abbaa and King Peterson grabbed the children, one year old Moriah Milan and two month old Audermare Peterson from a counseling and family service facility in Peoria and fled to Minneapolis. An officer there spotted Nyway's car and apprehended her and took the children into protective custody. Peterson, the father of the youngest child, was acquitted of all charges in August.
