PEORIA- The soon-to-open Riverfront Museum is getting a little help from Smithsonian Affiliations.
Harold Closter, a director from the Smithsonian Affiliation is in Peoria to work on sharing resources, museum collections and work with school systems. The teamwork is helping the museum get ready for opening day on October 20th.
Closter said it will be a great addition to the museum world.
"It's wonderful news in the museum world. Any time a new museum is built, it means that a community cares about itself, it cares about its history and it cares about its future," Closter said.
The Smithsonian Affiliation used to partner with the Lakeview museum.
