Giant Tortoise Perishes in Peoria House Fire

PEORIA - A giant tortoise is dead after a house fire in Peoria.
It happened around 3 p.m. this afternoon in the nine hundred block of N. Rebecca Place.
Officials tell us the fire was small and easily contained.
The home's occupant kept the giant tortoise as a pet.
No word on the fire's cause.

The "Giant tortoise" meant a lot to the family and many tears have bean shed.
