PEORIA -- Peoria's City Link Bus System is making some changes. It already has a security team, but now it's working to add on to that.
City Link already employs 15 Peoria Police officers part time. Now it's hoping to incorporate the Peoria County Sheriff's Department.
The officers monitor the area and ride on the buses to help control the crowd.
Spokesperson Anna Buehrer said additional help from the county does not mean it needs tighter security.
She said it is just another way to get the county and the city working together. "Well you know we cover a pretty large area. We go into East Peoria and we go into Bartonville and so we have an expansive area and it's just a way to you know the Sheriff's office. They know a lot about the area the police they know a lot about the area and it's a good way to collaborate together."
Discussions are still in the early stages.
City Link is also starting a new program to help area veterans. Starting in November, all veterans will only pay half the fare. In order to get the discount, you must have a valid VA card.
