PEORIA HEIGHTS - The Illinois Gaming Board and Illinois State Police are investigating alleged illegal activity in Peoria Heights.
Hundreds of video gaming machines were seized from a warehouse on Galena Road in Peoria Heights Tuesday afternoon. Gene O'Shea, Gaming Board spokesperson, said the commission is investigating possible illegal gambling.
WMBD 31 News has exclusive video of the seizure.
It happened around 12:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of Galena Road. The machines are believed to be slot machines and other gaming equipment.
O'Shea said all video gambling machines in Illinois have to be hooked up to a centralized communication system. The machines found inside the warehouse were not, according to O'Shea.
The Gaming Board won't tell us who owns this building or how it found the machines. It says it expects to release more information Wednesday. Neighbors told WMBD 31 News that investigators were questioning neighbors in the area earlier in the week.
