Leading up to next month's election, we're finding out where local candidates stand on the issues.
In the race for the 17th Congressional District Republican Incumbent Bobby Schilling faces Democrat Cheri Bustos.
We're asking each candidate if we've accomplished our mission of bringing peace to the Middle East.
Cheri Bustos
"Well there's not peace in the Middle East. Let's look at the situation now with Iran, and with Iraq, and with Syria. We have a lot of issues there right now and we need to make sure that we're not getting into anything that's going to be difficult to get out of. Again we need to make sure that we have a strong defense. But we've got a lot of work to do in the Middle East."
Bobby Schilling
"I don't think we necessarily have, a year ago this past March I was over in Afghanistan. I got to see some of the great things that our men and women have done there for us to try to go there a force real law is pretty difficult. I will say this, I'd rather have the terrorists being fought on their own ground, rather than have them here in the United State taking down towers like what they did in 2001."
