NORMAL - A fast food chain in Bloomington could expand to a second location in the Twin Cities.
Fire damaged part of the Dairy Queen on College Avenue in Normal in July of this year.
It has been closed ever since, but now plans are on file with the town to reopen the eatery as a DQ Grill & Chill.
The franchise typically features a larger restaurant with more menu options.
Normal Town Council members are set to consider the proposed redevelopment next week.
It would be the owner's fifth Grill & Chill location and second one in the Twin Cities.
Plans call for a new sign, menu boards and main entrance. The building itself is not expected to be greatly expanded.
The proposed opening date is sometime in January or February if the council approves.
