A group of high school students are taking action to help local neighbors.
Bloomington's Area Career Center is partnering with McLean County's Habitat for Humanity to fix up rundown homes.
The center offers vocational skills to area students.
Thursday, they prepped Sandra Voyles home for a fresh coat of paint, by scraping and sanding its sides.
The new project called "A Brush with Kindness," reaches out to families who can't afford the upgrades alone.
Voyles says she's thankful the students are making her house new again.
"I put on a roof four years ago and I'm still paying for it, so this helped me out immensely," said a grateful Voyles.
"Helping this lady fix her house is a good thing, because we're helping the community," added student volunteer Nadia Cavanaugh.
"A Brush with Kindness" hopes to serve about three families a year.
It invites all organizations to get involved.
