In a newly released George Washington University Battleground Poll, Mitt Romney is leading President Obama in the important "toss up" states while the President leads by just two points nationally. Including leaners and despite oversampling democrats by two percent, Romney leads in the toss up states by 4 points, hitting the critical 50 percent threshold and Romney leads in battleground states by two. Romney also leads Obama by 5 among independent swing voters. By 11 points, these voters feel Romney would do a better job on the economy. Romney also has a big edge with middle class families who prefer him to Obama by 15 points. This survey was done before Wednesday night's first big debate between Romney and Obama.
