EAST PEORIA -- The East Peoria Chamber of Commerce wants to help you get a job.
Today the Chamber held a job fair and offered free resume help.
The East Peoria Chamber is getting a dozen area employers in one place, with hopes to provide some opportunity for many struggling to find a job.
Executive Director Rick Swan said, "The Chamber's taking on the task of work force networking. We want to provide employers and those seeking jobs, matching those two together."
Vance Tripod is semi-retired and looking for a little more income to pay his bills. He said, "Opens up opportunities for me to find a job, since I'm getting older and I used to be in construction so I'm out here to see what they're offering."
And Ane Kalkman is a new high school graduate. "It's helpful because these are the kind of places that come here, that you don't think about when you're applying."
Young or old, employers like O.S.F, Bard Optical and Costco are searching for an array of skills and experience.
But before many people can get a job, they need a resume. Illinois Central College is on hand to help people do just that.
Swan said, "That helps folks and better prepares them for the next job interview. Those that don't have a resume, it's a great help and again, it will help them on their next job search."
If you didn't make it to this event, Swan said the Chamber will always take resumes and pass them along.
