PEORIA - New at ten tonight..Celebrating a Peoria city landmark.
The Civic Center is turning 30-years-old this year.
Leaders are honoring its legacy with a birthday party tonight
It includes a video of some of the center's most defining events and improvements.
General Manager Jim Wetherington believes there's a distinct reason for the facility's longevity.
He says it has the ability to draw in people for several events at one time.
He adds, " It's very successful. We have three different events, actually four events today. The variety that we're able to do all at the same time helps to entertain everyone in the community."
Construction of the Civic Center started in 1979.
The cost of the entire project was 64 million dollars.
