NORMAL - People from across the country are hoping to go on what they call the journey of a lifetime.

WMBD 31 and SAMI Apartments hosted a casting call Saturday afternoon for the popular CBS reality show "The Amazing Race."

Several hundred people showed up, creating a long line that extended beyond the Flats on Main & Osage, where the casting call was held.

Two by two, those in attendance stepped in front of a camera to explain why they would make a great team on the show.

Producers were specifically looking for teams with great stories, personalities, motivation and an overall well-rounded attitude.

Two children's ministry partners came to Normal from Delaware and said they felt like they were on the show already just waiting in line.

"We can take on anything. Yes, we drove 15 hours and stood in line and survived a student lobby for 19 hours. Little sleep and no showers for two days. So we completed the first leg of the race. We're ready!" they said.

Some lucky hopefuls could land a trip to Los Angeles to interview for the show.

If they are cast in an upcoming season, the prize for the winning team is $1 million. But it won't come easy.

Contestants are put through several rigorous competitions in remote areas around the world.
