PEORIA- Students at Kellar Elementary are got dirty on Saturday to celebrate good grades.
The school's PTO wanted a way to involve families, but also promote physical activity. So it came up with the first ever "Colts Run."
The run consists of an obstacle course with bouncing balls, balancing and climbing through mud. The school says since students scored well on standardized testing, it wanted to reward them and their families.
"The kids spend so much time in the classroom and they do a great job, but we wanted to also promote getting outside and physical activity for better health and endurance for the children," said Heidi Bauer, who helped organize the event.
The schools principal tackled the obstacle course himself, dressed as a cowboy.
