PEKIN - Some big changes are happening around Excel Foundry in Pekin.
A portion of Wagonseller Rd. near the manufacturing operation has already been improved, but further work is needed in the area to widen roads and strengthen structural integrity to accommodate heavy truck traffic.
Excel Foundry's president says the infrastructure investment is helping his company continue its investments in terms of expanding and creating jobs.
"The investment that went into these roads justified our investment to expand the facilities which leads to real job creation," says Doug Parsons.
Back in January, Excel Foundry made a commitment to hire 100 new employees by 2013.
The improvements around the mining equipment part maker are getting some help from the government.
Tazewell county and the Cincinatti township were announced today as recipients of an economic development administration grant of more than $500,000.
