Man Arrested After Punching Officer, Caught Hiding in Apartment Building

A Bloomington man is in jail after police say he punched an officer multiple times, then hid inside an apartment building.
Forty-two year old Thomas Major Bartholomew is facing two counts of aggravated battery for allegedly attacking a detective Thursday night.
It happened just before 8:30 at Phoenix Towers.
Police say the officer approached Bartholomew, wanting to question him in relation to an ongoing investigation.
But Bartholomew entered the apartment building.
Police say when the officer persisted, Bartholomew punched him in the chest.
When the officer called for backup, he hit him again in the mouth and fled up the elevator.
A SWAT team located him a short time later
The injured officer is okay.
