BLOOMINGTON--Items toxic to the environment like cleaning chemicals, and prescription drugs will soon have a chance to be safely thrown out.
A hazardous waste collection drive is happening tomorrow at the Bloomington fairgrounds.
It's being hosted by Normal's Ecology Action Center.
Organizers say state funding cuts are making it difficult to go green.
It'll cost $150,000 dollars to hold the event.
While the center has raised private funding to make it happen, it's still coming up thousands of dollars short.
Organizer Michael Brown hopes people bring a donation to this rare opportunity.
"It's the first one in five years for McLean County residents and to be honest, we don't know when the next opportunity is going to be," said Brown. "So, we want everyone to come out tomorrow and take advantage of this."
The hazardous waste collection takes place from eight am till two Saturday at the Bloomington Interstate Center.
