NORMAL - College students are getting involved in the democratic process ahead of the general election in November.
Heartland Community College hosted a voter registration drive Tuesday in conjunction with a national event serving the same purpose.
Students had several hours to stop by the campus cafeteria to sign up to vote. The only requirements were they had to have two forms of ID and they had to be at least 18 years old.
Kristin Gentry said everyone has a responsibility to participate in democracy.
"I think everyone should be proactive about what decisions affect them, and they have a role and responsibility to contribute to some of the decisions being made," she told WMBD 31.
The deadline for everyone to register in time for the November election is October 9.
