Driver in Fatal Accident Faces Felony Charges

EAST PEORIA- The driver during a roll-over accident that killed an ICC student faces felony charges.
Joseph Owens, 23, of Niles, Illinois, was charged with aggravated DUI and illegal transportation in Tazewell County on Monday.
Owens allegedly lost control of a vehicle at the intersection of Farmdale Road and Bittersweet in East Peoria on Friday. Three passengers, including Mario Reyes-Lopez, 23, of Elgin, were in the car.
Reyes-Lopez was killed and Owens was arrested on DUI charges. All four men were students at ICC. Owens will appear in court again on October 4th. His bond is $50,000.
