PEORIA- Members of a local radio station returned from a very special trip to China.
WCIC took a team of 22 people to Louyang, China, to help a group of special needs orphans called Maria's Big House of Hope. Catherine Cambra, the station's afternoon show co-host, said the group left two weeks ago.
They collected medical supplies and donations for the kids. Most importantly, they say they spent time with the orphans. But they say its only a small part in solving a global issue.
According to Cambra, there are 153 million orphans in the world.
"How can we do our part in responding to the orphan care crisis? We can all love one. Maybe we're called to adopt. Maybe we're called to advocate for the orphan," she said.
