PEORIA -- The River City is getting a taste of German culture with a little help from the annual Oktoberfest.

The festival offered authentic German beer and entertainment along the riverfront.

Volunteers dished out pork and red cabbage for lunch.

German-American Society spokesperson Jeff Pulfer said thousands of people have visisted the festival.

He said it offers something for everyone. "Great German music, great German food. Of course the beer, we always have the beer and just a lot of people to chit chat with and have a good time with."

Oktoberfest included a new 5K run this year. "Das Bier Run" had more than 200 participants.
