The Illinois Commerce Commission has approved new water rates for the area effective October first. The company estimates, pending final approval from ICC staff, that a residential customer in the company's Peoria district using 4500 gallons of water per month will pay about 8 cents more per day. Illinois American's ongoing maintenance of infrastructure is the main reason behind the rate change. The new rate also reflects about $180 million in investments statewide and about $55 million in the Peoria district.
