PEORIA- Mayor Jim Ardis says he will run for re-election in 2013.
The second-term mayor made his official announcement Friday.
There's been a lot of speculation whether he would run or not. Peoria city councilman Eric Turner said he would consider running, if Ardis did not. Councilman Chuck Weaver has indicated he's considering a run for the position.
Ardis says he received a lot of positive feedback regarding the city's progress, and after talks with his family, he's comfortable with the decision.
"We had a nice conversation as a family last night and came to the conclusion that we're excited about what's going on in Peoria. We really think the community is going in the right direction and we're very anxious to officially say we're going to go for re-election for another four year term," Ardis said.
The election takes place next April.
