Longtime Friend Remembers Marc Burnett

PEORIA -- Peoria is saying goodbye to a prominent community member. Marc Burnett, 62, passed away this morning after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Burnett was the Director of Marketing for the Peoria Civic Center and helped bring many great acts to Peoria.
Former Civic Center General Manager Debbie Ritschel hired Marc and worked with him for 12 years.
She said his passion for what he did and for the community was always clear, but there was one thing he always made a priority. "Marc had an incredible zest for life and what I always remember is he had figured out the balance between work and life, of family life, long before it became vogue. Family was always first with him."
She said he played a big role in bringing many broadway shows to town.
Among many things, Burnett was also involved with the Boy Scouts and with his church.
