NORMAL--Students are finally settling into their college living quarters, but they're already setting their sights on finding a place next year.
Local leasing agents say they're being flooded with calls from students hoping to reserve a space.
As Illinois State University transitions its housing from fewer dorms to more apartments, companies say the market is hot.
With new buildings like the Flats on Main, students are acting fast to get their pick of the places.
"The housing, especially in the three and four bedroom market is tight because you have a lot of the sophomores who are coming out of the dorms looking for a place to be off campus and those locations get taken up pretty quick," said Sami Apartment Company GM Marc Elder.
Many companies will begin open leasing in the next few weeks.
Staff say it's typical to see students camping out to get their spot.
