PEORIA- More than 30,000 people need Medicare in Peoria County, but don't understand how to use it.

National Medicare Education Week here in Peoria is helping to change things.

People eligible for coverage is soaring as more baby boomers are turning 65 years old.

An event for Medicare recipients at the Peoria Library today is teaching recipients how to navigate the best options in coverage.

That even includes new territory for some,  the internet.

Lauren Montrastelle with Care Improvement Plus, says "There is a great point to make about social media is utilizing it to look up health care information. Your Medicare information, accessing your plan or looking up healthcare tips."

Seniors were able to take part in break out sessions to help them find medicare resources online.
