NORMAL- ISU unveiled a Veterans Study Center on Friday; a place where students can go to hang out, study or meet for veteran support programs.
ISU enrolls 400 to 500 veterans every year; those students, students on active duty. military science and ROTC students will be able to use the space.
Matthew Schumacher was in the navy for five and a half years. Now he's a political science major. He said the transition back in to civilian life is hard enough without having to be a full time student.
"Not forced to go to class if you don't want to, not forced to go to that job if you don't want to. But still it's one of those things that you kind of retrain yourself into getting used to doing," Schumacher said.
The study center and the programs it will house are supposed to provide the camaraderie to support students adjusting back to life at school.
