TUSCARORA- Residents are tired of waking up to homes without power.
Thursday, nearly 100 residents voiced their concerns in a meeting with Ameren officials at the Alpha Park Library in Bartonville.
Community members say they've complained numerous times about frequent power outages along Tuscarora Road. Since August, at least 5 power outages have taken place, according to Ameren records.
Ameren says stormy weather and fallen trees are mostly to blame. Officials claim there were some electrical issues.
Carl Spense, Ameren division manager, announced plans to change power line structures and cut down trees to help fight the issue. But he said the company can't guarantee the problem won't happen again.
"We do have a remediation plan and we're actively working on it to improve the system around here," Spence said.
Resident Roger Becker says that's not enough.
"Ameren has gotten an 'F' for their support. We cannot depend on having power when there's a storm," Becker said.
Ameren says changes will be made by December.
