PEORIA- An entire building was evacuated in Downtown Peoria Thursday because of a car fire.
The burning car sent smoke billowing out of the One Technology Plaza parking deck. The car caught fire around 11:15 a.m.
Fire fighters said it looked like the flames started in the engine. The fire department said it was a tough fire to fight because it was at the basement level.
"Which made it hard to get to because of the ventilation. Very smoke filled area, which made visibility very hard," said Peoria Battalion Chief, Michael Morgan.
Firefighters said the car looked like a total loss and that the cars next to it may have been damaged. The fire department said the tires popped from the heat which caused some people to think there was an explosion, but there was not.
