PEORIA- A few weeks ago it was a large pile of rubble, now it's more like a gaping hole next to Quest Charter School on University in Peoria.
Plans are to turn the space into a new entrance, widened sidewalk, more parking spots and some landscaping.
Part of the goal is to make that corner on University and McClure more appealing to passers-by. The demolition is supposed to be finished by the end of next week. On September 25th the site plan will be handed over to the Peoria City Council for approval. That could take two weeks.
"I've got my fingers crossed, hoping that by the 15th of October that we will be complete and be using that facility that entrance as well as having access to that larger parking lot," said Glen Barton, President of Quest's school board.
Right now this Quest school teaches grades seven, eight and nine. Eventually it will be a four-year high school.
