MORTON- The Morton Pumpkin Festival is on pace for a record breaking year.
The first day of the carnival kicked off with rides, games, local bands, and of course, lots of pumpkins. More than 3,000 gallons of pumpkins were used to make food this year.
Also in abundance were the people attending the carnival. Jennifer Daly, C.E.O. of the Morton Chamber of Commerce, said attendance could be more than ever.
"We've had just record sales for our advance carnival tickets and you can just see the crowd. I mean its just fantastic," Daly said.
The festival lasts until Sunday. Part of the proceeds will help pay for the city's proposed entertainment center.
