PEORIA- A group of dogs are getting ready for their performance debut.
Tuesday, service dogs for Paws Giving Independence trained for the Saturday's Pause for a Cause Dog Show. The fundraiser raises money to train service dogs for people with disabilities.
The dog show will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Junction City in Peoria Heights. It's open to the public, and will include a free wine tasting, silent auctions and a kid zone.
All of the dogs are given away for free, which can carry a heavy financial burden.
"All the funds needed to just even raise one single dog is close to at least $1,000 per year. Plus the training facilities and the vet bills," said Adam Cale, who received his service dog, Chester, last year.
Volunteers are hoping to raise at least $8,000. Dog owners can enter their pets into the show. Anyone interested can visit givingindependence.org.
