GALESBURG-- Residents in Galesburg are concerned that a new hotel will be to close to their property.
The city is planning to build a new hotel to help boost jobs in the community. Residents who live in Galesburg welcome the boost in business but not the location. The city wants to build it in a cornfield near a residential neighborhood.
Some residents living near the field have lived there for more than 20 years. They say they expected the field to eventually be built on but didn't have a hotel in mind. People living near the hotel location are worried that the value of their homes will decrease with that type of business next to them. Some think that the best solution is singe-family homes being built.
The city is holding a public hearing on Tuesday September 11th at 7 p.m. at the Costa Catholic Academy Auditorium.
