PEORIA--Hunters may be gearing up for the approaching hunting season but a deadly virus won't be slowing them down.
Some hunters may be aware of a current viral disease in white-tailed deer. The disease has killed more than 700 deer in Illinois since August. Biologist say that the disease shouldn't affect the overall population of deer.
Biologist say that the disease will deteriorate within 24-hours after the deer has died. They say the meat is still edible and the disease poses no threat to people, pets or livestock.
