"Laverne and Shirley" Star in Pekin

PEKIN-Attention classic tv fans.
A very well known star is making an apperance in Central Illinois today.
You probably know her best as Shirley Feeney.
But her real name is Cindy Williams.
Yes, we're talking about one of the stars of the 1970's hit "Laverne and Shirley."
Williams is signing autographs at the Marigold Festival in Pekin.
She says she tried to portray her signature character in a way that connects with many women.
Williams says, "It's just a sympatico when someone comes up to you and says, 'Gee, that was just like me and my girlfriend,' or 'You guys remind me of my Mom and my Aunt.' It was because we were like that."
Williams went on to star in other shows and plays.
The Pekin Marigold Festival continues tomorrow.
