WASHINGTON- Just 96,000 jobs were added in August, much less than analysts were expecting with the number of people in the work force dropping to a 31 year low. It's all part of a dismal jobs report, indicating a sputtering economic recovery, just two months before the presidential election. To add insult to injury for the Obama administration, the June and July payroll numbers were revised downward. Meantime, workforce participation for men is at its lowest level since 1948. The U S Department of Labor found a record 88,921,000 Americans are not in the work force. Some analysts are blaming the president for not living up to his promises of job growth as new numbers also indicate wages dipped slightly, while higher paying manufacturing jobs fell sharply .
