PEKIN- Red, black and white cars sat neatly parked at the Velde Ford dealership in Pekin. Those colors are no coincidence, the dealership has teamed up with the Pekin Dragons Athletics department to raise money.
Stacie Swingle is the business development manager at Velde Ford and says they chose to help Pekin High School as part of Fords 'Drive 4 Ur School' event.
"Well a lot of us here at velde ford have graduated from pekin high school, um we have a lot of people who were involved in athletics themselves and being that we have a passion for that, some of us even have children or relatives that are in athletics there currently," Swingle said.
For every car that's taken on a test drive, Ford donates $20 to the Pekin High School athletics department.
Pekins athletics director, Rick Kestner said he's glad to have the community's help.
"It's not necessarily that we are needing money, but you know, it's always something we can use to spread though the athletics department," Kestner said.
And Swingle said she was excited to help out.
"We are hoping to raise the maximum amount that Ford will donate, which is $6,000.
Everyone who test drove a car was automatically entered to win a 2013 Ford Escape.
