PEORIA- Nasheika Barnett, girlfriend of slain 23-year-old Kensey Ross, remembers him as "a funny guy who loved to make people laugh."
Friday, Barnett joined Ross' family and friends for a candlelight vigil outside of his home, where he was found dead that morning.
Many were brought to tears, while others brought flowers and posters decorated with pictures of Ross. His family says he was supposed to graduate from Midwest Technical Institute in November.
His girlfriend says she's having a hard time believing what has happened. Barnett, who's dated Ross for several years, says she doesn't know what she'll do without him.
"He was a sweet person. He didn't deserve this. That was my heart. That was my soul. That was my everything. They took everything. I don't have nothing no more," she said.
The family is collecting donations for funeral services. Anyone interested can call (309) 232 - 2265.
