This edible battle isn't the kind you clean up.
Instead...it's helping a local cause.
Normal Community and Bloomington High Schools are competing to collect food.
All donations are going to a local food pantry.
The fight ends this Friday when NCHS and BHS go head to head at the inner city football game.
Students say, it's a win-win situation.
The food pantry gets stocked and the winning school gets a trophy...and bragging rights.
"We're a competitive school, and we want to do our best," said BHS Student Council President McKee Jackson. "If that means collecting the most cans and getting the biggest can of beans there is, then we're probably going to do that."
"You really get to see the end product how much we really brought in to help," said NCHS Student Council President Cayla Cardamone.
This is the first year for the inner city food fight.
The schools plan to bring the charity drive back again next year.
