ICC Battling Back To School Parking Problems

PEORIA -- Illinois Central College is seeing a dip in enrollment this year, but finding a place to park is still a back to school concern.

Bruce Budde, Executive Vice President of Administration and Finance, said ICC is trying to make the situation easier.

It's opening area lots for overflow parking and using a shuttle to drop students off at the main building.

He said the start of school is typically busy like this. "The start of school brings additional flow of students, we encourage the students to provide a little more time, extra time, to come here so that tends to come a little earlier and you have a little heavier traffic than usual."

Budde expects the traffic to die down after this week.

He said ICC is offering more classes at its north campus now, lowering the amount of students at its main campus.

When ICC opened in September of 1967 the first few days had traffic backed up all the way to Prospect going east over the McCluggage bridge,
