BLOOMINGTON--Video gambling is now allowed in the city, but some leaders are keeping a watchful eye on new prospects hoping to open small bars.

Some liquor commissioners worry more bar applications could be popping up.

But instead of serving drinks, owners will use their licenses to get video gambling machines.

Commissioners are reviewing an application for "Jackpot Joe's Cafe" located in Bloomington's Prospect Center.

Staff say the bar is small with only a few tables and chairs.

The remaining space is dedicated to video gambling machines.

Now, it's up to them to determine if the trend should move forward.

"The question is...is this a mini casino?  I haven't made up my mind yet," said Bloomington Mayor Steve Stockton.  "But it's worth scrutinizing."

We tried to contact Jackpot Joe's Caf but were unsuccessful.

If the liquor commission approves its liquor license, the matter heads to city council for the final say.
