SPRING VALLEY- Sadness filled Hall High School in Spring Valley Thursday after the death of one of it's students Wednesday afternoon.

The practice fields were empty, all athletic practices are cancelled until Friday. Students and faculty are mourning the death of Daniel Lule.

"Daniel's a very popular student here, loved by all his classmates, so it's a difficult thing for the community to understand," said Hall High Principal, Mike Struna.

Lule collapsed Wednesday during a football practice. He died about an hour later at approximately 1:37 p.m. at st. Margaret's hospital in Spring Valley. Lule was 17-years-old, about to start his junior year.

"We had 25 practices in July and Daniel attended all of them, and I remember it being really hot, so it's even, you know, harder for us to understand," Struna said.

Harder to understand why one of the team's offensive linemen would collapse on one of the cooler days this summer, only about 20 minutes into the practice.
His teammates are trying to deal with the loss of a player and more importantly, a friend.

"Most of the players met, went out to the practice fields. Spent some time there, they're having a hard time talking about it," Struna said.

Struna said the school says it's there for any students who need to talk. There is also a Facebook page to remember Daniel Lule.
