DUNLAP- Dozens of people came out to hickory grove park in Dunlap for the German-American society's fourth annual corn boil.
There was all you could eat corn, archery, soccer games and a beer cart.
Organizers say the fund raiser helps pay taxes and bills to keep the park open.
It also helps pay for their soccer team and the activities they do to preserve German culture.
Mary Dempster from the German-American society said it's important to have events like this so people don't forget their roots.
"I think we lose contact and I think it's important that whether it's German or Irish or Swedish or whatever, it is, I think it's important that we know where we came from where are ancestors came from. A lot of us lose that," Dempster said.
The German-American society's next event is Bratfest.
That will be on august 5th, also in hickory grove park. Visit their website for a full list of events.
