A Peoria man, indicted for the city's 11th homicide of last year, tried unsuccessfully Thursday to get a statement he allegedly made to police suppressed at his upcoming trial. 31 year old Stevie Linwood is facing one count of murder and one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Those charges stem from the September 10, 2011 shooting death of Sherman Smith. Police say Smith was found shot in the chest on a porch in the 2100 of Howett. An argument apparently led to the homicide. Linwood appears in court July 9th.
